LOCAL / OFFLINE

Your reading is yours.

The iPhone and iPad app keeps books and progress on your device. No account. No ads. No tracking SDK. Local reading works offline.

The web reader also has an optional article-by-link importer: it sends the URL to the article service. Web and app libraries do not sync.

MIT LICENSE

A useful starting point. Yours to make better.

HummingRead is free software under the MIT license. Read the code, fork it, change it, build your own version — with your tools, your ideas, or a little help from AI. Just keep the license notice.

A few things to know.

Will it make me read faster?

It lets you control presentation speed. It does not guarantee faster reading or better comprehension. Start slowly, pause often and choose what feels comfortable.

Where are my books stored?

In the app or browser on your device. There is no cloud sync. Export a backup from Settings before changing devices, clearing browser data or uninstalling.

Does it remove DRM?

No. Import only DRM-free files that you have the right to read. The app does not include a commercial book catalog.

Is it really free?

Yes. All reading features are free, and the source is available under MIT. You can use it, modify it and redistribute it while keeping the license notice.

Can I get it on my iPhone?

The App Store release is in preparation. You can try the web reader today. We will add the App Store link here when the app is available.

Help a small project keep flying.

If HummingRead helps you, share it with someone who likes long reads. Report a rough edge, suggest an idea or contribute a fix. Every bit helps.
